6.1 Classified Reduction in Force - Abolishment of Position

Recommend the Reduction in Force Resolution - Abolishment of Position:

Whereas, because of fluctuation in classroom size, it is the opinion of this Board that a resonable reduction of the position stated below is required. 

Now, Therefore, be it resolved by the Board of Education of the Galion City School District (in accordance with Article 5 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Ohio Association of Public School Employees Local #370 and the Galion Board of Education and R.C. 3319.172);

That the Superintendent recommends that this Board abolish the following position effective at the conclusion of the 2014-2015 school year:

16. RESOLUTION - TAX LEVY RENEWAL

A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE GALION CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT OF CRAWFORD, MORROW AND RICHLAND COUNTIES, OHIO REQUESTING THE AUDITOR OF CRAWFORD COUNTY, OHIO, TO CERTIFY TO THIS BOARD THE ESTIMATED PROPERTY TAX REVENUE THAT WILL BE PRODUCED BY THE RENEWAL OF A TAX LEVY OF SEVEN AND SEVENTY-THREE HUNDREDTHS MILLS AND THE TOTAL TAX VALUATION OF THIS SCHOOL DISTRICT PURSUANT TP R.C. 5705.21 and 5705.03 (B).

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE GALION CITY SCHOOL DISRTICT OF CRAWFORD, MORROW, and RICHLAND COUNTIES, OHIO:

 

1.       THAT this Board herby determines that it is necessary to levy the renewal of all of a tax outside of the ten-mil limitation for the purpose of current expenses of this school district pursuant to R.C. 5705.21.

2.       THAT this Board herby requests that the Auditor of Crawford County, Ohio certify to this Board the total current tax valuation of this school district.

3.       THAT this Board further requests that the Auditor of Crawford County, Ohio certify to this Board the dollar amount of revenue, which would be generated annually by the renewal of a tax levy of seven and seventy-three hundredths (7.73) mills for current expenses as authorized by R.C. 5705.21 for a period of five years to be submitted to the electors at a special election to be held on November 3, 2015, being the same day as the General Election.

17. RESOLUTION - OHIO HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION

Adopt the following resolution authorizing membership in the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) for the 2015-2016 school year:

WHEREAS, Galion City School District of 470 Portland Way North, Galion, Ohio, Crawford County, Ohio has satisfied all the requirements for membership in the Ohio High School Athletic Association, a voluntary not-for-profit association; and

WHEREAS: the Board of Education and its Administration desire for the schools with one or more grades at the 7-12 grade level under their jurisdiction to be voluntary members of the OHSAA;

Now, Therefore, be it resolved by the Board of Education of the Galion City School District that all schools listed shall be members of the OHSAA and that the Constitution, Bylaws, and Sports Regulations of the OHSAA shall be approved and adopted by this Board of Education for its own minimum student eligibility standards. The Board of Education reserves the right to raise the eligibility standards as the Board deems appropriate;

Be it further resolved that the schools under this Board’s jurisdiction agree to conduct their athletic programs in accordance with the Constitution, Bylaws, and Sports Regulations of the OHSAA. Furthermore, the schools under this Board’s jurisdiction agree to be primary enforcers of the Constitution, Bylaws, and Sports Regulations and their interpretations.

Prior to Executive Session Mr. Long asked for clarification regarding Galion students enrolled at Pioneer CTC who take their academic courses at a Digital School instead of Pioneer CTC, and the concern over how the funding flows between the resdent district, the careet technical center and the virtual school.
