    6.1 Classified Reduction in Force - Abolishment of Position

    Recommend the Reduction in Force Resolution - Abolishment of Position:

    Whereas, because of fluctuation in classroom size, it is the opinion of this Board that a resonable reduction of the position stated below is required. 

    Now, Therefore, be it resolved by the Board of Education of the Galion City School District (in accordance with Article 5 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Ohio Association of Public School Employees Local #370 and the Galion Board of Education and R.C. 3319.172);

    That the Superintendent recommends that this Board abolish the following position effective at the conclusion of the 2014-2015 school year:

                                  1 - Educational Assistant at Galion Intermediate School


    7. SUPERINTENDENT'S RECOMMENDATIONS - PERSONNEL

    Approve the employment of the following personnel contingent upon subsequent receipt by the Board of a satisfactory criminal record check from the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Federal Bureau of Investigation as required by law and applicable state certification:


    7.1 Administrative Resignation

    Accept the resignation of Natalie L. Siclair, Technology Coordinator, effective June 5, 2015.

    Award a two-year administrative contract to Paul Wheeler, Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Federal Grants effective August 1, 2015 through July 31, 2017 with salary to be based on the Administrative Salary Range for the assigned position.

    Award a two-year administrative contract to Ronald L. Williams, High School Principal effective July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2017 with salary to be based on the Administrative Salary Range for the assigned position.

    Award a two-year administrative contract to Alex Sharick, Intermediate School Principal effective August 1, 2015 through July 31, 2017 with salary to be based on the Administrative Salary Range for the assigned position.

    Award a two-year administrative contract to Cheryl D. Jason, Intermediate Elementary School Student Support Services Specialist, effective July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2017 with salary to be based on the Administrative Salary Range for the assigned position.

    Approve a disbursement of $25,000.00 from the Permanent Improvement Fund to the City of Galion for the upcoming Stadium Renovation Project.

    Approve the return of the Thomas J. McNew, Jr. Athletic Scholarship per attachement:

    Approve the attached list of seniors for the 2015 graduation, contingent upon their successful completion of graduation requirements.


    13. BREAKFAST AND LUNCH PRICES FOR THE 2015-2016 SCHOOL YEAR

    Approve the following Breakfast and Lunch prices for the 2015-2016 school year:

    High School lunch with milk - $2.65

    Middle School lunch with milk - $2.65

    15. PARENT TRANSPORTATION

    Approve transportation by school conveyance is impractical for the following students during the 2014-2015 school year; further approve to pay the parent (or guardian) of said student in-lieu of providing such service. Amount to be calculated by the Ohio Department of Education for the 2014-2015 school year and as per section 3327.01 of the Ohio Revised Code:

    16. RESOLUTION - TAX LEVY RENEWAL

    A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE GALION CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT OF CRAWFORD, MORROW AND RICHLAND COUNTIES, OHIO REQUESTING THE AUDITOR OF CRAWFORD COUNTY, OHIO, TO CERTIFY TO THIS BOARD THE ESTIMATED PROPERTY TAX REVENUE THAT WILL BE PRODUCED BY THE RENEWAL OF A TAX LEVY OF SEVEN AND SEVENTY-THREE HUNDREDTHS MILLS AND THE TOTAL TAX VALUATION OF THIS SCHOOL DISTRICT PURSUANT TP R.C. 5705.21 and 5705.03 (B).

     

    NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE GALION CITY SCHOOL DISRTICT OF CRAWFORD, MORROW, and RICHLAND COUNTIES, OHIO:

     

    1.       THAT this Board herby determines that it is necessary to levy the renewal of all of a tax outside of the ten-mil limitation for the purpose of current expenses of this school district pursuant to R.C. 5705.21.

    2.       THAT this Board herby requests that the Auditor of Crawford County, Ohio certify to this Board the total current tax valuation of this school district.

    3.       THAT this Board further requests that the Auditor of Crawford County, Ohio certify to this Board the dollar amount of revenue, which would be generated annually by the renewal of a tax levy of seven and seventy-three hundredths (7.73) mills for current expenses as authorized by R.C. 5705.21 for a period of five years to be submitted to the electors at a special election to be held on November 3, 2015, being the same day as the General Election.


    17. RESOLUTION - OHIO HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION

    Adopt the following resolution authorizing membership in the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) for the 2015-2016 school year:

    WHEREAS, Galion City School District of 470 Portland Way North, Galion, Ohio, Crawford County, Ohio has satisfied all the requirements for membership in the Ohio High School Athletic Association, a voluntary not-for-profit association; and

    WHEREAS: the Board of Education and its Administration desire for the schools with one or more grades at the 7-12 grade level under their jurisdiction to be voluntary members of the OHSAA;

    Now, Therefore, be it resolved by the Board of Education of the Galion City School District that all schools listed shall be members of the OHSAA and that the Constitution, Bylaws, and Sports Regulations of the OHSAA shall be approved and adopted by this Board of Education for its own minimum student eligibility standards. The Board of Education reserves the right to raise the eligibility standards as the Board deems appropriate;

    Be it further resolved that the schools under this Board’s jurisdiction agree to conduct their athletic programs in accordance with the Constitution, Bylaws, and Sports Regulations of the OHSAA. Furthermore, the schools under this Board’s jurisdiction agree to be primary enforcers of the Constitution, Bylaws, and Sports Regulations and their interpretations.

    18. EXECUTIVE SESSION

    An executive session is requested for one or more of the following matters to:

    _____ a. consider the appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion, or compensation of a public employee or official, or to consider the investigaions of charges or complaints against a public employee, official, licensee or "regulated individual"; unless the person being investigated of charges or complaints requests a public hearing;

    _____ b. consider the purchase or sale of public property if the public interest would be hurt by the premature disclosure of the information;

    __X___ c. confer with the public body's attorney for the purpose of considering disputes if a court action concerning the dispute is either pending or imminent;

    __X___ d. prepare for, conduct, or review negotiations or bargaining sesssions with public employees;

    __X___ e. consider matters required by federal laws, or rules, or state statutes to be kept confidential;
