    3.7 Title I - Annual Notice

    The Galion City School District Board of Education enhances the educational program for educationally disadvantaged students with the use of federal funding. Title I funding ensures that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on Ohio's challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments. A complete copy of Galion's Title I Services Policy 2261, Parent and Family Member Participation in Title I Programs Policy 2261.01, and Parent's Right to Know Policy 2261.02 are attached below:

    6.1 Administrative Assignments

    Recommend to approve a two-year administrative contract effective August 1, 2023 through July 31, 2025 to Matt Tyrrell as Athletic Director.  Salary to be based upon the assigned position, contingent upon state certification and/or requirements applicable to the position.


    6.2 Certified

    Recommend to approve Mike Glew as a Long Term Substitute Teacher, effective August 17, 2023, to be paid at a rate of $125 per day.

    Recommend to approve Spencer Mutchler as a Long Term Substitute Teacher, effective August 17, 2023, to be paid at a rate of $125 per day.

    Recommend to approve McKenna Deskins as a Long Term Substitute Teacher, effective August 17, 2023, to be paid at a rate of $125 per day.

    Recommend to approve a change of placement on the pay scale for DeAnna Albert, Primary School Teacher, from Master to Master + 15, effective with the first pay of the current contract year, per Article X of the Negotiated Agreement.

    Recommend to approve a change of placement on the pay scale for Calli Bauer, Middle School Teacher, from Bachelor + 12 to Bachelor + 24, effective with the first pay of the current contract year, per Article X of the Negotiated Agreement.

    Recommend to approve a change of placement on the pay scale for Lesley Buzza, Intermediate School Teacher, from Master to Master + 30, effective with the first pay of the current contract year, per Article X of the Negotiated Agreement.

    Recommend to approve the employment of Jim Hart, Part-time Van Driver, contingent upon state certification and/or requirements applicable to the position.  Employment terms to be based upon Article 4 of Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Galion City Schools Board of Education and OAPSE Local #370 Salary Schedule at Step 0 for the 2023-2024 school year.

    Recommend to approve the employment of Julie Boles, 2.5 Hour Cook, contingent upon state certification and/or requirements applicable to the position.  Employment terms to be based upon Article 4 of Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Galion City Schools Board of Education and OAPSE Local #370 Salary Schedule at Step 3 for the 2023-2024 school year.

    6.6 Classified Changes to Hourly Rates of Pay

    Recommend to approve a retroactive rate adjustment for classified staff for Summer 2023 Feeding Program and Summer 2023 Kindergarten Boot Camp not to exceed $25 per hour. This is in response to the continued labor shortage and the challenge faced to secure staffing for these important summer programs.


    6.7 Pupil Activity Contracts

    Recommend to approve the following Pupil Activity Contracts for the 2023-2024 school year, contingent upon state certification and/or requirements applicable to the position. Compensation to be based upon the Extra-Duty Pay Schedule as defined in the GEA Negotiated Agreement, if applicable:

    • May 20-24, 2024 - 8th grade trip to Washington D.C.
