    6. * SUPERINTENDENT'S RECOMMENDATIONS- PERSONNEL

    6.1 Certified

    Recommend to accept the retirement resignation of Bruce Weirich, High School Teacher, effective at the end of the 2023-2024 school year.

    Recommend to approve the employment and issuance of a contract to Paige Smith, Speech and Language Pathologist, effective March 1, 2024 for 2 days per week through the end of the 2023-2024 school year, contingent upon state certification and/or requirements applicable to the position.  Salary to be based upon the salary schedule at Step 3 for the 2023-2024 school year, as defined in the GEA Negotiated Agreement.


    6.2 Certified Extra-Duty

    Recommend to approve the following Certified Extra-Duty Assignments for the 2023-2024 school year, contingent upon state certification and/or requirements applicable to the position.  Compensation to be based upon the Extra-Duty Pay Schedule as defined in the GEA Negotiated Agreement, if applicable:

    Recommend to approve the following personnel as  Literacy Tutors for the 2023-2024 school year at the rate of $20.00 per hour:

    6.3 Classified

    Recommend to approve the employment of Stacy Kieffer, Educational Assistant, contingent upon state certification and/or requirements applicable to the position.  Employment terms to be based upon Article 4 of Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Galion City Schools Board of Education and OAPSE Local #370 Salary Schedule at Step 0 for the 2023-2024 school year.

    Recommend to approve the employment of Jim Hart, Part-time Custodian Floater, contingent upon state certification and/or requirements applicable to the position.  Employment terms to be based upon Article 4 of Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Galion City Schools Board of Education and OAPSE Local #370 Salary Schedule at Step 0 for the 2023-2024 school year.


    6.4 Pupil Activity Contracts

    Recommend to approve the following Pupil Activity Contracts for the 2023-2024 school year, contingent upon state certification and/or requirements applicable to the position. Compensation to be based upon the Extra-Duty Pay Schedule as defined in the GEA Negotiated Agreement, if applicable:

    7. * BOARD DESIGNATIONS

    7.1 President Pro-Tem Appointment

    Recommend the Board elect a President Pro-Tem for the Organizational Meeting in January, to lead the meeting until the Board elects a President for 2024.


    7.2 January 2024 Organizational & Regular Meetings

    Recommend the Board set the date of the Organizational Meeting of the Galion City Board of Education for Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 6:15 p.m. at the Galion Middle School Computer Lab.

    Recommend the Board set the date of the Regular Board of Education meeting for January 9, 2024 at 6:30 p.m., to take place immediately following the Organizational Meeting on January 9, 2024 at the Galion Middle School Computer Lab.


    8. * OHIOGUIDESTONE AGREEMENT

    Recommend to approve an agreement between the Galion City School District and OhioGuidestone, for the purpose of providing behavioral health services and supportive services to referred students, effective November 1, 2023, as attached:


    9. * MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

    9.1 GEA - Personal Days MOU

    Recommend to approve a Memorandum of Understanding between the Galion Board of Education and Galion Educational Association regarding personal days for a Certified employee, as attached:


    10. * PUBLIC NOTICE - 2024-2024 DISTRICT CALENDAR

    Recommend to hold a public hearing on the 2024-2024 Galion City schools District Calendar and approve the first reading of the proposed calendar, as attached:


    11. * INDOOR TRACK & FIELD

    Recommend to recognize Boy's and Girl's Indoor Track and Field as an authorized activity in the Galion City School District for the 2023-2024 school year.


    12. * TRIPLE P (THE POSITIVE PARENTING PROGRAM)

    Recommend to approve the Middle School to host parenting classes with Triple P (The Positive Parenting Program).  This is a research-based program aimed at parents of teens and grant funded through Ohio Children's Trust Fund, in association with Nationwide Children's Hospital.  The classes will run for 5 weeks and will begin on January 11, 2024


    14. EXECUTIVE SESSION

    An executive session is requested for one or more of the following matters to:
    _____ a. consider the appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion, or compensation of a public employee or official; 
    _____ b.  consider the investigation of charges or complaints against a public employee, official, licensee, "regulated individual," or student; unless the person being investigated of charges or complaints requests a public hearing;
    _____ c. consider the purchase of property for public purposes, the sale of property at competitive bidding, or sale or other disposition of unneeded, obsolete, unfit-for-use property if the premature disclosure of the information would give an unfair competitive or bargaining advantage to a person whose personal, private interest is adverse to the general public interest;
    _____ d. confer with the public body's attorney for the purpose of considering disputes if a court action concerning the dispute is either pending or imminent;
    _____ e. prepare for, conduct, or review negotiations or bargaining sessions with public employees concerning their compensation or other terms or conditions of employment;
    _____ f. consider matters required by federal laws, or rules, or state statutes to be kept confidential;
    _____ g. consider details of security arrangements and emergency response protocols where disclosure might reveal information that could reasonably be expected to jeopardize the District's security;
    _____ h. consider confidential information related to the marketing plans, specific business strategy, production techniques, trade          secrets, or personal financial statements of an applicant for economic development assistance or negotiations with other politics subdivisions regarding requests for economic development assistance (provided statutory conditions are met).
