    Recognition of 2014 Boys' Swim Team as North Central Conference Champions - Logan Amos, Tanner Amos, Alex Barker, Lucas Conner, Samuel DeNero, John Finch, Joseph Horvath, Chad Karnes, Landon Rose, and Evan Zumbro. Coached by Ted Temple and Assistant Coaches Caden Lutz and Curt Wiggins.

    5.1 Developing Digital Assessments
    Dr. Sandra Powell, Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Federal Grants
    • Using Race to the Top Grant to develop digital assessments that align with next year's state testing system.

    6. SUPERINTENDENT'S RECOMMENDATIONS

    Approve the employment of the following personnel contingent upon subsequent receipt by the Board of a satisfactory criminal record check from the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Federal Bureau of Investigation as required by law and applicable state certification:


    6.1 Certified - Resignation

    Accept the retirement resignation of Denman N. Ray, High School Algebra/Geometry/Math Teacher, effective May 30, 2014.


    6.2 Classified - Resignation

    Accept the retirement resignation of Ronda J. Cullen, Administrative Secretary II, effective July 1, 2014.


    6.3 Classified

    Approve Brian Betts as Primary Elementary School Night Custodian, effective March 20, 2014.


    6.4 Extra-Duty Assignments

    Approve the following Extra-Duty Assignments for the 2013-2014 school year:

    Joshua Riggle, Freshman Baseball Coach

    Correctional Item from February 20, 2014 Meeting, Bart Cass, Junior Varsity Baseball Co-Coach only (not Varsity Baseball Co-Assistant Coach position). 


    7. TREASURER'S RECOMMENDATIONS

    7.1 Approve Then & Now Certificate

    There was at the time of making this contract or order and at the time of the execution of such certificate a sufficient sum appropriated for the purpose of such contract and in the treasury or in process of collection to the credit of an appropriate fund free from any previous encumbrance for FY 2014 contract with Mt. Gilead Exempted Village Schools for transportation to School for the Blind in the amount of 3,556.99.


    7.2 Approve Purchase of Serving Counters

    Approve the purchase of new serving counters for the food service facilities in the Intermediate School building from C&T Design and Equipment Company. The cost of each counter does not require entering into bid process but the total cost of the purchase does require board approval. These counters will replace the existing counters that are not adequate to maintain the increased requirements of fruits and vegetables to be served daily by the state of Ohio or the temperature requirements set by local health department. The purchase will be made from the Food Service Fund (006).


    8. AGREEMENTS

    8.1 Mt. Gilead Exempted Village Schools

    Approve an agreement with Mt. Gilead Exempted Village Schools in the amount of $7,113.97 for the 2013-14 School Year to transport district students to the School for the Blind in Columbus Ohio. 


    8.2 Step By Step Academy

    Approve an agreement with Step By Step Academy for behavior consultant and communicaiton training service for the duration of the 2013-14 school year. Charges will not exceed $500.00 per month.


    8.3 Parental Transportation Contract

    Approve a transportation contract between Galion City Schools and Mr. & Mrs. John Wilkins for transporting student to and from Cardington Schools. This contract will replace the contract approved at February 20, 2014 board meeting.


    8.4 Blue Sky Meeting Solution/LightSky

    Approve an agreement with Blue Sky Meeting Solution/LightSky for on-line meeting subscription through June 30, 2014. Annual agreement for FY2013-14 is $608.40


    8.5 eSchoolView

    Approve a contract with eSchoolView, the district's web hosting software. The contract is for the duration of the 2013-14 school year to add mobile app services to the current contract, contract amount is not to exceed $500.00.


    8.6 eSchoolView FY2014-15 & 2015-16

    Approve a contract with eSchool View for the 2014-15 and 2015-16 school year to continue the current web hosting CMS  services and bundle it with the additional Mobile App services. This contract will replace the CMS portion of the existing contract with eSchoolView through 2016. The additional annual amount to the existing contract is $1,200. per year.


    8.7 Mid-American Therapy FY2014-15

    Approve a contract with Mid-American Therapy for Athletic Training services for the 2014-15 school year, not to exceed $5,880.00.


    8.8 NCOCC FY2014-15

    Approve an agreement with North Central Ohio Computer Cooperative (NCOCC) for the 2014-2015 school year to include Internet Access - annual charges not to exceed $128,909.20 and VoIP Service - annual charges not to exceed $11,600.00.


    8.9 Bucyrus City School District for Handicapped Pupils

    Approve a contract for Handicapped Pupils with Disabilities for Galion resident students attending Bucyrus City School District through Open Enrollment for the 2013-2014 school year.


    8.10 ADDENDUM ITEM - River Valley Local School District for Non-Handicapped Pupils

    Approve a contract for Non-handicapped Pupils for Galion resident students attending River Valley Local School District through Court Placement for the 2013-2014 school year.


    9. SCHOOL DONATIONS

    Recommend that the Galion Board of Education accept the following donations:


    9.1 Galion Community Foundation

    Accept a $1930.00 donation to Galion Primary School to fund Kindergarten field trip to Lowe Volk Park, Grade 1 visit from Lowe Volk Park to our campus nature trail, and Grade 2 field trip to Crossroads Candle.


    9.2 Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks

    Accept a $500.00 donation to Galion Intermediate School to fund a 3rd grade field trip to the Harvey School (one room schoolhouse).


    10. RESOLUTION - 2013-2014 SCHOOL YEAR CALENDAR

    11. RESOLUTION - 2014-2015 SCHOOL YEAR CALENDAR

    Approve a resolution recognizing that the 2014-2015 school calendar has a reduced number of hours schools are open for instruction when compared to the 2013-2014 school calendar.  The reduction is due to the following reasons:  the 2013-2014 school calendar was revised and 2 holidays were changed to school days (result:  added 2 days of instruction to the school calendar); and, the 2014-2015 school calendar has a different configuration of Professional Development Days and Early Release Days. 

    NOTE:  The 2014-2015 school calendar has more hours when the schools are open for instruction when compared to the actual hours when schools were open for instruction in the 2013-2014 school year.


    12. LEGAL REPRESENTATION

    Recommend that the Galion Board of Education add the firm of Britton, Smith, Peters, and Kalail Co., L.P.A. to the list of designated legal counsels for the Galion City School District Board of Education.


    13. EXECUTIVE SESSION

    Enter Executive Session to consider the appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion, or compensation of a public employee.
