    4.1 ADMINISTRATIVE REDUCTION IN FORCE RESOLUTION - SUSPENSION OF CONTRACT

    RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE GALION CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT REDUCING THE ADMINISTRATIVE POSITION AND SUSPENDING THE CONTRACT OF THE ADMINISTRATOR HOLDING THIS POSITION EFFECTIVE JUNE 30, 2013:

    Now, Therefore be it resolved by the Board of Education of the Galion City School District:

    That pursuant to the recommendation of the Superintendent and in accordance with the Administrative Suspension policy adopted by this Board on March 11, 2010, it is the opinion of this Board that a reasonable reduction in the number of administrative positions be made due to inadequate financing. The position is as follows:

    Athletic Director (62.5%)

    This Board further finds and determines that there is one person currently employed in this position and therefore the Board hereby suspends the administrative contract of:

    Robert Roesch, Athletic Director (62.5%) effective June 30, 2013.


    4.2 CERTIFIED REDUCTION IN FORCE RESOLUTION - ABOLISHMENT OF POSITIONS

    Recommend the following Reduction in Force Resolution - abolishment of positions:

    Whereas, because of a decrease in the number of students enrolled and/or inadequate financing for the 2013-14 school year, it is the opinion of this Board that reasonable reduction in the number of positions of employment must be made effective with the 2013-14 school year. 

    Now, Therefore be it resolved by the Board of Education of the Galion City School District (in accordance with Article IV, Section I of the collective bargaining agreement between the Galion Education Association and the Galion Board of Education):

    That effective with the 2013-14 school year the Superintendent recommends this Board hereby abolish the folllowing positions of employment with this district:

    1 - Kindergarten (K) Teacher at Primary Elementary School

    1 - Social Studies Teacher at the High School

    1 - Middle School Special Education Teacher

    1 - Middle School Specialist / Primary School Intervention Specialist 


    4.3 CERTIFIED REDUCTION IN FORCE RESOLUTION - SUSPENSION OF CONTRACTS

    Recommend the following Reduction in Force Resolution - Suspension of Contracts:

    Whereas, this Board has abolished four positions of employment because of a decrease in the number of students enrolled with this district and inadequate funding, and

    Whereas one position was held by an employee who elected to resign, and

    Whereas, eliminating the remainder of the positions requires suspension of three contracts, and

    Whereas, in order to carry out this reduction in force, the Superintendent recommends that the employment contracts of the following employees be suspended.

    Now, Therefore be it resolved by the Board of Education of the Galion City School District:

    That effective with the 2013-14 school year, this Board hereby suspends the contracts of the following employees:

         Sarah Wegesin - Kindergarten

         Angela Brocwell - Middle School Specialist / Primary Intervention Specialist 

         Curt Wiggins - Middle School Intervention Specialist

    That the above listed teachers shall have the right to bump a less senior teacher in another position for which they qualify under Article IV, Section I (2F) (3) of the negotiated agreement or in the alternative shall be placed upon the recall list. 


    4.4 CERTIFIED REDUCTION IN FORCE RESOLUTION - ABOLISHMENT OF POSITION

    Recommend the following Reduction in Force Resolution - abolishment of position:

    Whereas, because of uncertainty in federal funding resulting in potential loss of revenue for the 2013-14 school year, it is the opinion of this Board that reasonable reduction in the number of positions of employment must be made effective with the 2013-14 school year. 

    Now, Therefore be it resolved by the Board of Education of the Galion City School District (in accordance with Article IV, Section I of the collective bargaining agreement between the Galion Education Association and the Galion Board of Education):

    That effective with the 2013-14 school year the Superintendent recommends this Board hereby abolish the following position of employment with this district:

    1 - Title I Funded Position - position to be absorbed through attrition.


    5. SUPERINTENDENT RECOMMENDATIONS - PERSONNEL

    Approve the employment of the following personnel contingent upon subsequent receipt by the Board of a satisfactory criminal record check from the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Federal Bureau of Investigation as required by law and applicable state certification:


    5.1 Extra-Duty Assignments

    Approve the following Extra-Duty assignments:

    High School 2013 Summer School Instructors:

         Dave Rinehart

         Bill Stepro

         Brent Tyrell

    Middle School 2013 Summer School Instructors:

        Amy Buzard

        Lynn Evans

        Shelly Barton


    5.2 Summer Help Summer 2013

    Approve the following seasonal help for Summer 2013 for up to 68 days of grounds keeping at a rate of minimum wage per hour:

         Dakota Frizzell

         Chad McCray

    Approve the following seasonal help for Summer 2013 for building custodial support at a rate of minimum wage per hour:

         Michael Makeever (20 hours per week not to exceed 11 weeks)

         Charlie Frazier (20 hours per week not to exceed 11 weeks)


    5.3 ADDENDUM ITEM - Classified

    Approve Dale Knowlton as a Substitute Custodian for the 2012-2013 school year.


    6. AGREEMENTS

    Approve the following agreements:


    6.1 North Central Ohio Educational Service Center

    Approve the 2013-14 school year services contract, pursuant to ORC 3313.845 with North Central Ohio Educational Service Center to include services for Educational Aides and School Psychologist at the cost of $284,501.60.


    6.2 Board of Health of City of Galion

    Approve a contract with the Galion City Health Department to provide nursing services at a rate of $35.00 per hour for 20 hours per week during the 2013-14 school year.  This also includes an additional ten (10) hours for data entry and medical record keeping. Additional hours will be allowed for emergency situations with administrative approval by both entities.


    7. SET SPECIAL BOARD MEETINGS

    7.1 Set a Special Meeting for Levy Resolutions

    Set a Special Board Meeting at the Middle School Computer Lab E107 on Wednesday May 8th at 7:30 a.m. to consider a resolution to levy an additional tax on August 6, 2013 Special Election


    7.2 Set a Special Meeting for Superintendent Interviews

     

    ADDENDUM ITEM - Set a Special Board Meeting at the Middle School Computer Lab Room E107 on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. to conduct new Superintendent interviews with no further action.

    ADDENDUM ITEM - Set a Special Board Meeting at the Middle School Computer Lab Room E107 on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. to conduct new Superintendent interviews with no further action.

    ADDENDUM ITEM - Set a Special Board Meeting at the Middle School Computer Lab Room E107 on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. to conduct new Superintendent interviews with no further action.
