    Recommend to approve a resolution allowing the required Third Grade Assessments to be administered in a paper format for the 2023-2024 school year, as attached:


    3.3 Donations

    Recommend to accept $1,500 from the Galion Community Education Foundation for the Middle School Heartland Outdoor School Program. (Receipt # 231165)

    Recommend to accept $20,000 from the Galion Community Education Foundation for the Centegix Crisis Alert Sysrem. (Receipt # 231165)

    Recommend to accept $33,915 from Galion Boosters for Baseball and Softball Scoreboards (Receipt # 231198)


    3.4 Crawford County Tax Incentive Review Council - TIRC

    Appoint the Superintendent and Treasurer as representatives of Galion City School District to the Crawford County Tax Incentive Review Council. The Crawford County Tax Incentive Review Council is required by Ohio Revised Code to annually reivew all agreements granting exemptions from property taxation.

    6. * SUPERINTENDENT'S RECOMMENDATIONS - PERSONNEL
    Mrs. Jennifer Allerding, Superintendent

    6.1 Certified

    Recommend to approve the employment and issuance of a one-year contract to Mattie Boyd, Intervention Specialist, effective with the 2023-2024 school year, contingent upon state certification and/or requirements applicable to the position.  Salary to be based upon the Teacher's salary schedule at Step 8 for the 2023-2024 school year, as defined in the GEA Negotiated Agreement.

    Recommend to approve the employment and issuance of a one-year contract to Heather Nicholson, Middle School Teacher, effective with the 2023-2024 school year, contingent upon state certification and/or requirements applicable to the position.  Salary to be based upon the Teacher's salary schedule at Step 10 for the 2023-2024 school year, as defined in the GEA Negotiated Agreement.

    Recommend to approve the employment and issuance of a one-year contract to Kaisey Speck, Intermediate School Teacher, effective with the 2023-2024 school year, contingent upon state certification and/or requirements applicable to the position.  Salary to be based upon the Teacher's salary schedule at Step 0 for the 2023-2024 school year, as defined in the GEA Negotiated Agreement.

    Recommend to approve the employment and issuance of a one-year contract to Cindy Strickler, Vocal Music Teacher, effective with the 2023-2024 school year, contingent upon state certification and/or requirements applicable to the position.  Salary to be based upon the Teacher's salary schedule at Step 13 for the 2023-2024 school year, as defined in the GEA Negotiated Agreement.

    Recommend to accept the retirement resignation of Ann Pfister, Middle School Teacher, effective June 1, 2023.

    Recommend to accept the retirement resignation of Amy Cline, Guidance Counselor, effective August 1, 2023.


    6.2 Extra Compensation for Certified Employees

    Recommend to approve compensation in the amount of $300 for the following Certified Staff for accompanying 8th grade students to Washington D.C.:

    6.3 Classified

    Recommend to approve the employment of Christina Parsley, High School Custodian, contingent upon state certification and/or requirements applicable to the position.  Employment terms to be based upon Article 4 of Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Galion City Schools Board of Education and OAPSE Local #370 Salary Schedule at Step 0 for the 2022-2023 school year.

    Recommend to accept the resignation of Jim Sparks, Bus Driver, effective March 8, 2023

    Recommend to approve employment of the following Classified Substitute Personnel, contingent upon state certification and/or requirements as applicable to the position, for the 2022-2023 school year:

    • Tapanga Parsley - Substitute Custodian
    • Hannah Risch - Substitute Bus Driver

    6.4 Pupil Activity Contracts

    Recommend to approve the following Pupil Activity Contracts for the 2022-2023 school year, contingent upon state certification and/or requirements applicable to the position. Compensation to be based upon the Extra-Duty Pay Schedule as defined in the GEA Negotiated Agreement, if applicable:

    Recommend to approve the following personnel as Certified State Testing Administrators for the 22-23 school year:

    7. * FIELD TRIPS

    Recommend to approve the following Primary School field trips for the 22-23 school year:

    • May 2, 3 & 4, 2023 - Grade level Behavior Incentive trip to Tiger's Den in Galion, OH
    • May 15 & 17, 2023 - Kindergarten trip to Lowe-Volk Park in Crestline, OH
    • May 16, 2023 - 2nd grade trip to the Columbus Zoo in Columbus, OH
    • May 19, 2023 - 1st grade trip to tour Historic Galion

    Recommend to approve the following Intermediate School field trips for the 22-23 school year:

    • May 18, 23 & 24, 2023 - Grade level Behavior Incentive trip to Altitude Trampoline Park in Ontario, OH
    • May 22 & 23, 2023 - Mrs. Talbott's 4th grade Science classes to Lowe Volk Park in Crestline, OH

    Recommend to approve the following Middle School field trips for the 22-23 school year:

    • March 24, 2023 - Robotics students to attend a Cardboard Regatta at Ontario High School in Ontario, OH
    • May 10, 2023 - 7th grade trip to the Columbus Zoo in Columbus, OH
    • May 18, 2023 - 6th grade trip to Lowe Volk Park in Crestline, OH
    • May 24, 2023 - 8th grade students (not attending the DC trip) to the Tiger Den in Galion, OH
    • May - Date TBD - 6th grade trip to the DARE Rally in Bucyrus, OH

    Recommend to approve the following High School field trips for the 22-23 school year:

    • March 22, 2023 - Students in Industrial Tech class to attend a Cardboard Regatta at Colonel Crawford High School in Crestline, OH
    • May 11, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. to 10: a.m. - High School Band to attend a Flute Presentation at Crestline High School in Crestline, OH

     

     


    8. *2023 ATHLETIC SUMMER CAMPS

    Recommend to approve the following Athletic Summer Camps:

    • June 19-21, 2023 - Girls Basketball Team Camp at Adrian College in Adrian, MI
    • July 18-20, 2023 - Girls Golf team to attend Summer Camp at Pleasant Hill and Mohican 

    9. * BOARD OF EDUCATION RECOMMENDATION

    9.1 Resignation of Superintendent, Jennifer Allerding

    Recommend to accept the resignation of Jennifer Allerding, Superintendent, effective July 31, 2023


    9.2 Superintendent Search - Mid-Ohio ESC

    Recommend to approve a contract with Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center to conduct the Galion City School District's Superintendent Search. Contract to include services for job posting, application review, first round interviews, and reference check on finalist at no charge to the District.

     


    10. EXECUTIVE SESSION

    An executive session is requested for one or more of the following matters to:
